Coherix Develops Ability for Brake Manufacturers to Improve Quality, Lower Development Cost

Ann Arbor, Michigan, January 26, 2015 — Brake Manufacturers Can Now Obtain a Full Surface Analysis of a Brake Rotor at One Time by Using Technology Recently Developed by Coherix. Only available from Coherix, Brake Manufacturers are lowering manufacturing costs and improving quality with this technology leading to a smoother braking experience for the customer.

All of the important measurements to access the condition of a brake rotor can be performed at once, such as; Disc Thickness Variation (DTV), Linear Run Out (LRO), surface characteristics, surface relations, surface flatness, surface profile and many others.

During the braking system development process, detailed information about how the parts are performing and wearing during a testing sequence is important to know. With Coherix ShaPix results providing total surface visualizations and micron level accuracy, wear patterns and system performance are rapidly understood.

David Gruber, Coherix Brake Specialist, states “The ShaPix system greatly increases the number of data points that are captured on a given part. This technology will enable brake component designers to understand their parts like never before and make decisions that will improve their braking systems.”

Coherix designs and delivers high-speed, high-definition, 3D metrology and inspection tools for product development and the management of manufacturing processes for the precision manufacturing and semiconductor industries. Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan the company has technical centers in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. Coherix products are being utilized around the world at companies such as ASE, SPIL, Marvell, BorgWarner, Ford, Honda, Allison Transmission, Chrysler, General Motors, Micron, Infineon, John Deere, Volvo Technology Transfer and Aisin among others.
